To support researchers in making this vision a reality, the University is committed to providing world-class facilities, including compute power, data services, visualisation and expertise.<\/p>\n<p>With recent major investments for research in Life Sciences and a commitment to ongoing funding for equipment, the University is currently seeking to significantly strengthen the well-established Research Computing Team. The Team already has a track record as an innovative support partner to research groups across campus and a growing regional, national and international reputation for its ambition and delivery of highly integrated, flexible and performant solutions; the most recent being direct on-chip water cooling for servers as well as a new private cloud, tuned for compute-intensive workloads and all underpinned by a unified PB scale, enterprise-class storage system. Add to this the University\u2019s project to construct a new purpose-built data centre for research and it is clear that these are exciting times to be working in Research Computing at Birmingham.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve the full potential of the new infrastructure and to drive forward the University\u2019s research agenda, the University is seeking to recruit 6 new members to the team in a variety of roles. These exciting opportunities will be filled by individuals with the relevant core skills and the drive, dedication and interest to work with highly motivated academics to make our research computing services work for them.
