Beth Heddle (BSc Biomedical Sciences, 2018), Social Media and Content Manager shares her top tips and advice for recent graduates and how to make the transition from student to graduate.<\/p>\n

What is the biggest mistake you have made since graduating and what have you learnt from it?\"Beth<\/b><\/p>\n

Probably worrying. The transition from student life to working life is huge. Suddenly you have to sort out things like council tax and your pension! Enjoy your job role rather than worrying about where you\u2019ll be in five years time.\u00a0It\u2019ll all work out.<\/p>\n

What is the best piece of advice you have been given?<\/b><\/p>\n

I was talking to a lecturer of mine in first year, and she said to me: \u201cLife is an adventure. You\u2019ll have times when you\u2019re absolutely loving life, you\u2019ll have times when you\u2019re very much out of your comfort zone. Roll with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

What do you know now that you wish you\u2019d known as soon as you graduated?<\/b><\/p>\n

In a way I wish I\u2019d known just how draining a full time job can be. We all know the typical 9-6 job can turn into 7-7 when you add commutes, and it can be tough. Nothing can really prepare you for this, so keep it in mind when you set your expectations for being able to do things in the evenings at first.<\/p>\n

Can you recommend us som<\/b>ething?<\/b><\/p>\n

I\u2019d recommend talking to people in the field you want to go into before you apply. It’s always good to have an idea of what the reality of the job you want is like. Work experience is really useful for this too.<\/p>\n
