In February 2025, 43 public members attended a deliberative workshop in Birmingham to discuss how changes to how funds are allocated to local governments could reduce inequalities. This report sets out the findings which emerged from the workshop, drawing on voting exercises and worksheets that participants engaged with throughout the day<\/p>\n
Fumi Kitagawa\u2019s<\/strong> research brief explores how public procurement can be used strategically to address regional needs, particularly in a time of constrained public resources<\/p>\n This report from Professor Anne Green<\/strong>\u00a0explores the advantages and disadvantages of concentrating versus spreading public funding across different geographical areas. It highlights the importance of considering both approaches systematically about specific policy areas and their intended outcomes.<\/p>\n This report from Dr Abigail Taylor<\/strong> analyses 48 funding streams in operation in England from 2014 to 2024, for local and regional areas that are either explicitly aimed at addressing geographical inequalities or are likely to have a direct or indirect impact on such inequalities.<\/p>\n City-REDI’s\u00a0Dr Matthew Lyons<\/strong> appeared on ITV Central<\/a> to discuss his analysis of Trump’s Tariffs.<\/p>\n City-REDI\u2019s research by Dr Matthew Lyons and\u00a0Huanjia Ma<\/strong>\u00a0about Trump tariffs was picked up in the Guardian.<\/a><\/p>\n Co-Director Professor\u00a0Rebecca Riley<\/strong>\u00a0has been featured in Catapult Connecting Places<\/a>!
