This year\u2019s theme is \u2018Mental Health in an Unequal World\u2019. The green ribbon is in the international symbol of mental health awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The past 18 months have brought many challenges for all of us but, in particular, for people with mental health conditions, many of whom are experiencing even greater social isolation than before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Statistics from NHS Digital 2020 paint a worrying picture \u2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2020 1 in 6 young people had a mental health problem, compared to 1 in 10 in 2017<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Black people are four times more likely than white people to be detained under the Mental Health Act<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>58% of people receiving benefits said that their mental health was poor<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"310\" height=\"163\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.bham.ac.uk\/culturalcalendar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/70\/2021\/09\/mind.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1678\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.bham.ac.uk\/culturalcalendar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/70\/2021\/09\/mind.jpg 310w, https:\/\/blog.bham.ac.uk\/culturalcalendar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/70\/2021\/09\/mind-300x158.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 310px) 85vw, 310px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>There are lots of ways you can get involved \u2013 whether you are an individual, a group or an organisation.
