When his elder brother Francesco left for Venice in 1578, Leandro became his father\u2019s principal assistant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"270\" height=\"187\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.bham.ac.uk\/culturalcalendar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/70\/2022\/03\/bassano.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2022\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leandro painted with fine, smoothly applied brushstrokes, which differed from his father\u2019s more vigorous technique. It is more difficult to distinguish Leandro\u2019s work from that of the other artists in his father\u2019s workshop, largely because of their continual close collaboration. In 1588 Leandro followed his brother to Venice, where he enjoyed a successful career as a painter of portraits and large history paintings.
