It is the first time that any British monarch has celebrated a platinum jubilee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The four-day Jubilee weekend starts on Thursday 2 June until Sunday 5 June with communities up and down the land putting on events, displays and pageants to commemorate this once-in-a-lifetime occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jubilee beacons will be lit in the capital city of each of the Commonwealth countries, the Queen\u2019s baton for the Commonwealth Games features a platinum strand, the Royal Mint, partnering with the Royal Canadian Mint, have produced a two-coin commemorative set, commemorative stamps have been issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.bham.ac.uk\/culturalcalendar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/70\/2022\/05\/qe3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2115\" width=\"244\" height=\"183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.bham.ac.uk\/culturalcalendar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/70\/2022\/05\/qe3.jpg 720w, https:\/\/blog.bham.ac.uk\/culturalcalendar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/70\/2022\/05\/qe3-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 244px) 85vw, 244px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Phil and Heather from the Friends of Brinton Park with some of the knitted and crocheted flowers (48 knitted flowers were contributed by the Editor!) <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To those living in or near Kidderminster, the Friends of Brinton Park initiated a community project to create handmade flowers to adorn the railings of the park ahead of their Jubilee event on Saturday 4 June. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Platinum Jubilee of Elizabeth II\u00a0is being celebrated on Saturday 4 June to mark the 70th anniversary of her accession to the throne on 6 February 1952 (my Dad was one of the policemen on the Mall that day, Ed.).
