By the end of the Holocaust in 1945, six million Jewish people had been murdered in concentration camps and death camps. In addition to Jewish people, the Nazis also targeted homosexuals, people they deemed to be disabled, as well as political opponents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, the Holocaust Memorial Day is important for remembrance but also offers the opportunity for understanding present-day discrimination.
