By composing the film music, Viennese Heurigen musician Anton Karas became a world star overnight.<\/p>\n<p>Written by Graham Greene, directed by Carol Reed and starring, among others, Joseph Cotten, Orson Welles and Trevor Howard, \u2018The Third Man\u2019 is considered one of the greatest films of all time, celebrated for its acting, musical score and atmospheric cinematography.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3536 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.bham.ac.uk\/culturalcalendar\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/70\/2024\/06\/third-man-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"259\" height=\"194\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The film centres on American Holly Martins (Cotten) who arrives in the city to accept a job with his friend Harry Lime (Welles), only to learn that Lime has died.
