For a number of years, Dr David Leppinen, School of Mathematics, had run a stock market game within his students. This game was run as part of a mathematical finance masters at the university where students would attempt to beat the market using the modelling techniques they had learned in the course. In this game he game them 1 million David dollars and each month they had to choose to buy or sell share options on a number of fictitious stocks. This game was previously run via multiple excel spreadsheets, one for each month. We worked with Dr. Leppinen to take this concept and move it online.
