The UoB History Blog Relaunch

Published: Posted on

Friends, Intellectuals and Country people, lend me your ears.

Welcome to the relaunch of the history blog. This is a platform upon which you, as academics, have the opportunity to present your bold ideas and thoughts on any matters related to history or politics. The hope is for your peers to read and comment on your posts, sparking insightful discussions and showing off your talent in the process.

Each month, a theme will be revealed on which you may choose to write a short blog on, though you can write it on any topic related to the humanities. The theme this month is ‘new beginnings’ so it could be anything from how nations or empires began to the invention of a new technology.

Blogs should be a reasonable length with a maximum of 1000 words (so no submitting your full essays!). In addition, posts should not be assessed work you have submitted to the university BEFORE it has been marked. To have your work featured on the website, please email it to me at exk780@student.bham.ac.uk so I can post it on your behalf and credit you with authorship. A new editor will be chosen through application reviews next term so just be aware of that exciting opportunity soon!

On a final note, the benefits of posting on this forum will be tangible evidence of your academic talent and insight that has the potential to have instigated a full discussion with peers about your piece. For future jobs and employers, you can then proudly present your work that is on the official UoB history blog.

So, start putting your thoughts into words and posting these undoubtedly fascinating ideas on here!
