Huddle is a cloud based content management platform. This type of technology is in growing demand for an institution like Birmingham which is research-driven and where researchers need to be able to share documents and collaborate not only within the institution but with other external organisations. Traditional methods of emailing documents between the users are no longer fit for purpose nor meet the requirements for rapid exchange of large quantity of information. The University provides some solutions such as MS SharePoint that could be configured to allow remote access for external users.
In this document we review Huddle to assess the potential value of this technology to allow secure collaboration with external users and we include a comparison with SharePoint, which offers similar functionality subject to further configuration and support.
