The Companion app (http:\/\/www.companionapp.io) is a free personal safety mobile app created by five students from\u00a0the University of Michigan, MI, USA. It enables users to invite friends or family members to monitor their journey\u00a0and check their safety via an online map, without the need for their friends or family members to install the\u00a0Companion app. Companion is available on both iOS and Android.
\nCompanion\u2019s key features include:
\n\uf0b7 Invite friends or family members as companions.
\n\uf0b7 Live Map \u2013 friends or family members virtually monitor the user\u2019s journey.
\n\uf0b7 Nervous Button \u2013 when the user feels at risk, but without an explicit need for police, user can press the\u00a0nervous button to call the emergency contact directly.
\n\uf0b7 Smart 911 \u2013 user calls the police via \u201c911\u201d button and the Companion app instantly shares the GPS location.<\/p>\n
