{"id":320,"date":"2015-10-19T12:05:28","date_gmt":"2015-10-19T11:05:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.bham.ac.uk\/itinnovation\/?p=320"},"modified":"2018-09-25T15:42:18","modified_gmt":"2018-09-25T14:42:18","slug":"student-mobile-app-competition-2015-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.bham.ac.uk\/itinnovation\/2015\/10\/19\/student-mobile-app-competition-2015-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Mobile App Competition 2015-2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The SMAC competition \u2013 run by the IT Innovation Centre &#8211; is open\u00a0<strong>to all undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University from technical and non-technical backgrounds.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are two ways to take part:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Option 1: Enter an innovative idea for an app and a story board with the design of your app and how it would work<\/li>\n<li>Option 2: Enter an innovative idea for an app and a working app or a fully working prototype<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Prizes include paid placements with our industrial sponsors, paid placements at the IT Innovation Centre,\u00a0tablet computers and other prizes. SMAC is also accredited through the\u00a0<a class=\"sys_16\" title=\"PSA Employability\" href=\"https:\/\/intranet.birmingham.ac.uk\/as\/employability\/psa\/index.aspx\">PSA Employability programme<\/a>\u00a0of the University.<\/p>\n<h3>Themes:<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Participants can choose from one of the themes below:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Create an innovative real-time booking system mobile app for UoB, eg: computer booking system; room booking; sports centre booking.<\/li>\n<li>General theme: create an innovative mobile app that will make a difference in an area of your choice.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Key Dates:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Stage 1 &#8211;
