Identity Management system upgrade

Published: Posted on

Core Infrastructure Services are currently upgrading the University’s Identity Management system to version 8.0.

The new version will bring our Identity system into a supported version of the product and will bring some great new benefits to IT Services and the University, including:

  • Replace legacy Alta HR data with Core Systems data to allow more fine-grained Identity management processes
    • Allow ‘Profiles’ based on the new data to manage and standardise a user’s experience
  • Integrate Banner module information into Student identity handling
    • Module based resource handling, AD Groups, Mailing Lists etc.
  • Better integration and support for Microsoft Office 365
    • Account Management and life cycling
    • License Management
    • Product and Application assignments
  • New interfaces for support staff on the IT Service Desk and within the Colleges support teams
    • Replaces IT Shop for support staff with an application interface allowing more functionality
  • Improved auditing and reporting in regards to the Identity Information, End User Systems account provisioning and life-cycling
  • Improved REST Interface for interaction with other systems / processes where required

Core Infrastructure Services need teams from IT Services to get involved in the development/testing process for the new version of the system. They will be running a Lunch and Learn session in the coming weeks to demonstrate version 8.0 in more detail and explain how you can help. In the meantime, if you would like more information or think you would like to get involved then contact the team at inat@contacts.bham.ac.uk
