My name is Mehnoor and I am a second year Nursing Student. To get to know me I thought it would be best if I answer some questions. So, here we go\u2026<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Why do I want to become a nurse?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Well, the simple answer is that one day my mum said to me, \u201cYou know, I think you would make a good nurse\u201d. From that day on I did some research about the career and explored my options. The main thing for me was that with Nursing there are so many different paths you can choose once qualified \u2013 you don\u2019t have to work in a hospital. There\u2019s community, research, school nursing and many more. Also, I don\u2019t mind seeing a bit of blood and gore! <\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Why did I choose to study Nursing at the University of Birmingham?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>It just made sense because I live fairly locally (although I have to admit sometimes the bus can be a nightmare when trying to get home!). Also, you experience all three fields in the first year which is great if you\u2019re unsure of what you want to do.<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>What do I enjoy most about the course?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>That\u2019s a hard one because I really enjoy placement because it\u2019s where you learn the most and get hands on experience. At the same time though I enjoy university because I get to catch up with my friends and you realise that you\u2019re all in the same boat.<\/em><\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>My experience in three words:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Realistic \u2013 it opens your eyes to not just the range of physical issues people undergo but also the social issues like housing and family situations<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Challenging \u2013 juggling assignments can really be a challenge if you\u2019re on placement at the same time <\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Social \u2013 at uni you make new friends and on placement you work closely with nurses and wider members of the team and more importantly, with your patients.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>Where do I see myself career wise in 10 years\u2019 time?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>Truth be told nobody knows where they\u2019ll be in 10 years\u2019 time, but I can take a guess! Probably a Practice Nurse.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Well, I think that\u2019s enough from me for now.
