{"id":33,"date":"2014-09-19T11:05:55","date_gmt":"2014-09-19T11:05:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unityoutofdiversity.wordpress.com\/?page_id=17"},"modified":"2016-11-17T13:42:21","modified_gmt":"2016-11-17T13:42:21","slug":"research-questions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blog.bham.ac.uk\/unity-out-of-diversity\/about\/research-questions\/","title":{"rendered":"Objectives of the research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UniDiv project addresses two main questions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Is immigrant adaptation a complex process consisting of various dimensions (socio-economic, cultural, social, spatial) and, if so, how do these dimensions influence one another (if at all)?<\/li>\n<li>To what extent do academic researchers, policy makers and the general public perceived and define immigrant adaptation as a multidimensional process or do they focus on specific dimensions and outcomes?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>More specifically, we aim at exploring:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">the extent of the dimensionality of immigrant adaptation in Britain;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">the existing evidence on whether adaptation in one dimension helps adaptation in another or whether these dimensions are independent;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">whether this dimensionality and independence between dimensions vary across gender, ethnic and generational lines;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">the extent to which the same or different dimensions are prioritised in the definitions and understandings of immigrant adaptation among academic researchers, policy makers and the general public;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">what data and policy responses might be more effective in addressing the concerns of both the ethnic majority and minority groups;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">whether some dimensions might need to be prioritised as they are likely to influence outcomes in other dimensions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The UniDiv project addresses two main questions: Is immigrant adaptation a complex process consisting of various dimensions (socio-economic, cultural, social, spatial) and, if so, how do these dimensions influence one another (if at all)?
