The More-Than-Human Power of Memorials & Memes – roundtable video

Published: Posted on

UrbTerr-project team member Dr Evelien Geerts was recently invited to the “Posthumanism: Cinema, Philosophy, Media: A Roundtable Series”, organized by the Department of English and Film Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University in partnership with Brock University’s Posthumanism Research Institute (Canada).

During the roundtable series, she presented her digital cartography of critical new materialisms as an introduction to her research on the more-than-human power of memorials – in this case, the Brussels 2016 terrorist attacks-commemorating ‘Memorial 22/3’, located in Belgium’s Sonian Forest – and (counter-)fascist memes – embedded within the larger context of the political violence done by the global and local (Flemish) alt-right.
