What does BHM mean to you?

To get us started, what does BHM mean to you? Is it a time to reflect, a time to remember how far we have come, a time to fight for action, or something completely different?

  1. For me, Black History Month is a time to appreciate the vast contributions that black people have made to the society that we live in today. It should priorities the histories of people who have there histories for the most part ignored. As a history student, I am interested in the histories of the marginalised, the stories that have been pushed aside. Black History Month is an opportunity to tell these stories through a plethora of means.

    However, alongside the celebration of social progress, especially from the events of earlier this year, Black History Month should also serve as a means to act for more. I hope that this month will build discussions of how we can progress towards racial equality.
