Taking the next step

The Department of Modern Languages at the University of Birmingham is excited to announce the creation of a new regional hub in collaboration with Languages For All, in order to boost the number of A-level linguists by bringing secondary schools together for the delivery of language classes in areas where small take-up means they are otherwise unaffordable. This follows a successful pilot in West London with Royal Holloway and other new hubs, for example in Leeds.

The partnership will provide a calendar of inspiring activities, trips and residentials, as well as ensuring a robust pipeline of graduate linguists by following a cohort from year 11 through to university application. The University of Birmingham will host flagship recruitment and outreach events for the hub, as well as meetings with employers and alumni as part of a multi-year programme celebrating the students’ identity as linguists.
