Conference announcement and call for submissions: Remembering/Imagining Terror in Europe

Published: Posted on

UPDATE: this call for submissions is now closed.

“Remembering/Imagining Terror in Europe”, the UrbTerr team’s next conference event, will take place at the University of Birmingham between the 14th and 16th of September, 2022. The call for submissions is now open, and the full document can be downloaded here.

This conference seeks to explore how people, agencies and activists across Europe make sense of terrorist violence, negotiated memories of loss, and counterterrorist responses. By looking at diverse activities such as artistic practice, language and performance that embody both the visible and the invisible experiences of people affected by violence, this conference will bring together contributions from scholars and artists from various disciplines and different career stages: early career researchers are particularly encouraged to apply, and we invite abstracts for conference papers as well as alternative formats of participation from artists, performers, and researchers from across different disciplines.

Please submit your abstract or a description of your proposed contribution of no more than 400 words, alongside a brief biographical note of no more than 100 words, and your contact details to by the 31st of May, 2022.
