This afternoon event will provide advice on presenting your research, followed by an opportunity to practice this in a friendly and informal setting.
The advice session (14:00-15:00) will include tips on writing and delivering conference papers, framing your research topic for a non-specialist audience, and responding to questions (eg at conferences or in progress panels). It will be followed by a practice session for postgraduate students to try out presenting work and/or to listen and respond to others (15:30 onwards).
NB: You are welcome to attend either session, or to drop in and out through the afternoon. You don’t have to attend the advice session to present (and vice versa).

You are very welcome to share your work in person during the practice session, and you don’t have to attend the advice session in order to do this. This could be a conference paper, part of a chapter or progress panel submission, poster presentation, or another format- all are encouraged. The session will focus on research in English Literature, and is intended to complement the general “Introduction to Presentation Skills” offered by the Research Support team.
This event is designed for postgraduate research students in English Literature, but students from all disciplines are welcome.
