Page Breaks: Books We Hate

In a counterpoint to our long-running session theme, Works Loved, this week we’re thinking about books that inspire the opposite emotion. Listen to the podcast ‘Books We Hate’, and come along to reflect on the discussion and share your own dislikes. (But don’t worry – Works Loved will be back soon, to remind us of the things we do enjoy).

“I had such a visceral reaction when first reading it that I wanted to throw the book across the room”

Text (Listening)

Thanks to Liam Harrison for suggesting this week’s podcast! Come along ready to discuss the topics raised here, or just to rant about books you hate.

  • Literary Friction, ‘Books We Hate’ (Link)
  • The final section is cultural recommendations, so if you’re pressed for time you can confidently stop listening at 18:45. (Spoiler: they recommend The Favourite and Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse)
