5th March 2025 by

Pop Culture Theory Group (5pm, Wed 12th March)

The next session of PCTG will be on Wednesday 12th March, from 5-7pm GMT in Arts 105

We’ll be discussing (per a recommendation from Philo) worldbuilding, aka the process of constructing an imaginary world or setting, particularly from the perspective of geography. To do so, we’ll be reading ‘Critical Worldbuilding: Toward a Geographical Engagement with Imagined Worlds‘, an article by Jeff Vance Martin and Gretchen Sneegas, which is around 7 pages long, though if you fancy digging your teeth in, you can also read a second, slightly meatier source: ‘What in the World? Storyworlds, Science Fiction, and Futures Studies‘.

As usual, if you’re unable to get to the reading, do please still come along! You may be able to jump in with additions beyond the reading, and it’s always great to hear different perspectives.

As always, to grab the info about the room booking or zoom link, email Georgie @ gxr697@student.bham.ac.uk.
