The theme will be Widening the Methods Toolbox in the Psychology of Religion.
The cost to attend the pre-conference will be £20. To register for the pre-conference, please choose this as an optional extra when registering for the main IAPR conference 2025.

Sarah Charles
Topic: Biomarkers
Description: This session will outline what biomarkers are, why they might be relevant to the psychology of religion, how they can be incorporated into psychology of religion research, and how to analyse different biomarker data using some examples from existing research.
Aiyana Willard
Topic: Fieldwork using observation and participation methods
Description: This session will focus on fieldwork methods and the benefits of going into a community and using observation and participation as primary data and to contextualise other findings. I will illustrate these approaches through examples from my field research conducted in Fiji, Mauritius, and the UK.
Halina Grzymała-Moszczyńska
Topic: Qualitative methods
The workshop will present qualitative methods that may be useful in research on religiosity. Methods such as Photovoice, Participant Observation / Ethnography, Creative/Art-Based Methods (e.g., Collage, Drawing, Mapping), and Elicitation Techniques (e.g., Image, Object) will be discussed.

Topic: Registered Reports in the Psychology of Religion: Best Practices and Lessons Learned
Speakers will describe the process, benefits, and challenges of Registered Report methods in the psychology of religion – including lessons learned from more than a dozen ongoing Registered Report projects supported by the John Templeton Foundation.
