Launch of MDS Pathways

Published: Posted on

We had an absolutely fantastic turnout at the launch of our MDS Pathways programme in the College of Medical and Dental Sciences this week. After a bumper year for the College in recruiting 152 students via our Pathways to Birmingham widening participation programmes, we welcomed a fantastic cohort of year 1 students who will work with nearly 50 mentors from later years across our UG programmes. The mentors will support the new students during their transition to university and throughout their first year. Over 100 students participated in our launch event creating quite a buzz in the College in the week before Welcome Week. Our new year 1 students had the opportunity to spend time with their mentors, to meet other students on the programme and importantly enjoy the coffee and cake on offer in our Med Café.

The launch event is just the first in a series of professional development activities which will take place across semester 1 and 2. There is more information about the programme in a previous blog post. We are very grateful to the Alumni Impact Fund for their support of MDS Pathways.
