Maryse Condé obituary

Students and colleagues in LCAHM are encouraged to read the obituary of the ‘Alternative Nobel’ prize-winner Maryse Condé which appeared in the Guardian on 15th April, written by Professor Louise Hardwick (Professor of Francophone Studies and World Literature):

For those on X/(formerly Twitter), the Guardian tweet is here: https://twitter.com/guardianobits/status/1778838769573171601?s=12&t=Sz90rpL5YsRdW57sPJnaTA

Louise has also written a CAL Blog post reflecting on how as a graduate student, she came to meet Maryse, which led to Maryse delivering a Guest Lecture at the University of Birmingham in 2010.

Most DoML students will know Louise for her teaching and research on Francophone culture, or as the convenor of our two large independent research modules Core V (Y2) and Dissertation/ISM (Y4).

Students are warmly encouraged to read the obituary and CAL blog for an insight into how our teaching informs our research, and vice-versa:
