The 6th of April 2025 marks the Hindu festival ‘Rama Navami’, it is an important Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of the Lord Rama, who is the seventh avatar of the god Vishnu. This is celebrated with prayers, fasting and devotional activities. People who wish to partake in the festival visit temples and sing devotional songs that are dedicated to Lord Rama (which are known as bhajans). Some people fast throughout the day, whilst others choose to celebrate with large processions, re-enactments of scenes from the Ramayana, and decorative displays of Lord Rama’s life. This day of celebration is to remind people of the power of devotion, righteousness, and the triumph of good over evil.
