Discover Autumn: Free Lesson Materials for Words & Poetry

Autumn is a season full of colours, cozy moments, and inspiration. Why not use this inspiring topic for your Language lesson?  We’ve created free teaching materials to help your learners talk about autumn activities and explore poetry by Rainer Maria Rilke.

Our conversation lesson is designed to work for different levels:

Zu sehen sind eine Tasse Tee, ein Eichhörnchen, Kastanien und ein Apfelkuchen. Die Farben sind warm und es ist sehr herbstlich, gemütlich.
Golden or sad autumn?

A2 learners: Focus on autumn activities in German– walking in the park, collecting colorful leaves, picking pumpkins or apples, and enjoying warm drinks. Simple sentences and conversation prompts help learners express their personal experiences and favorite seasonal activities.

es ist nebelig, Ahornblätter liegen auf dem Boden, sie welken langsam, aber die Farbstimmung gibt noch Hoffnung.
Herbst im Nebel – die Blätter fallen

B1 learners: Go deeper by adding Rilke’s poetry. Students will read and discuss a short autumn poem, exploring vocabulary, emotions and descriptive language.  This helps learners express feelings and opinions about autumn through both conversation and literature.

Why use this lesson?

  • Engages learners with seasonal vocabulary and real-life topics
  • Encourages speaking and writing practice
  • Combines language learning with literature
  • Flexible: split for A2 learners or full package for B1 learners
