The Graduate School of Sport and Professional Practice (GSSPP) is hosting our first symposium. If you’re a sports professional, researcher, coach, or athlete passionate about advancing human performance, this is the event you cannot afford to miss. Set to take place at University of Birmingham on the 14th of May. GSSPP Symposium promises an exciting line-up of speakers, interactive workshops, and cutting-edge innovations that will shape the future of sports science.

At GSSPP, we bring together the brightest minds and most influential players in the world of sports performance. Whether you’re looking to dive deep into the latest research, explore new technologies, or network with industry leaders, our symposium offers a platform for collaboration and growth.

We’re thrilled to have a diverse range of expert speakers, each bringing a unique perspective to the table, a few of these are:

  • Lewis Clarke, Sports Science lead at the Professional Golf Association and will be discussing sports bras in the female golfer.
  • Ros Cooke, will be discussing the intersection of athletic performance and the reproductive health of female athletes. As more attention is given to the importance of supporting women in sport, Ros will provide invaluable insights into training, recovery, and wellbeing during pregnancy, a growing area of focus for athletes and coaches alike.
  • Ollie Logan, Head of innovation, biomechanics and performance analysis for Swimming, will explore how cutting-edge science is being applied to one of the world’s most physically demanding sports. Ollie’s session will focus on innovative training techniques and performance metrics that can help swimmers achieve their best in the pool.

We’re also proud to be supported by some of the most respected names in the industry, whose sponsorships make this event possible. A big thank you to our sponsors:

  • Hytro – The pioneers of blood flow restriction technology, Hytro’s wearable garments help athletes train harder and recover faster. Their products, backed by science, are designed to enhance performance by increasing muscle activation and improving circulation, making them a crucial part of the future of sports performance.
  • Vald – As a leading provider of innovative tools and technology for sports science, Vald’s cutting-edge products like the ForceDecks and NordBord are revolutionizing performance testing and injury prevention. Their commitment to supporting data-driven performance will be a major highlight of the symposium.
  • Playermaker – This wearable technology tracks every step an athlete takes, providing detailed insights into movement patterns, agility, and overall performance. Playermaker’s revolutionary strap-on device will be featured at the symposium, showcasing how data-driven insights can boost training and competition results.
  • MDPI – As a global publisher in open access scientific journals, MDPI is a vital partner in advancing sports science research. Their commitment to making cutting-edge research accessible to the world aligns perfectly with our goal to spread knowledge and foster collaboration in the sports community.
