Reminder about the Elms Road access control system

Published: Posted on

The main internal doors in Elms Road will be swapped over to the new door access system on Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 March. The front door is due to be swapped over on Friday 15 March.

Once the doors have been swapped over to the new access control system, you may still see some of the old door access pads in place. However they will no longer be working and will be removed after the new system has been fully installed.  So once you see a new pad next to a door, please begin using it by holding your ID card near to it. Pictures of the new pads can be viewed just above the photocopier in the main reception area. The old pads are grey, the new pads are black with a wavey light at their centre.

Have you got the correct staff ID card?

If you haven’t already, please check your ID cards. In order for your staff ID card to work on the new access system it needs to be imbedded with a compatible chip. Some older cards may not have this chip so it is important that you check your card before the new door system is implemented.

You can tell if your card has a chip by looking for a symbol in the top-right corner of the card. The symbol looks like a lower case ‘d’ inside a circle. If there is no symbol then it is likely that your card does not have a chip and you will need to get it replaced with a new version. Please email Lynn Heslington with your full name and staff number as soon as possible and she will arrange for a replacement.

PINs

Apologies, but the issuing of PINs to some staff has been delayed. We are working to pass PINs on to everyone as quickly as possible. If we reach Friday 15 March and the PINs have not been issued to everyone then we will temporarily leave the front door on the old system to minimise any disruption. We will then swap it over to the new system once all PINs have been issued.

When will the work be completed?
