On the 1st March, Service Management had our much anticipated away day in Studio Venues Cannon Street.
After the previous attempt at having an away day was cancelled back in December due to a major incident, this day got off to a flying start with an activity where each member described their roles in 30 seconds (timer and all!). This was much harder than you would think and several times the bell was rang. Each person’s presentation was refreshingly different. Some even used YouTube or wrote it the form of lyrics to famous songs.
It was soon down to business and discussions for the morning were largely focused on the Service Management Strategy, its themes and guiding principles. Split into smaller teams, we applied the guiding principles to two very different projects being undertaken by IT Services. It was good to see that the principles can already be applied to a lot of the activities IT Services do on a day to day basis.
After a pleasant lunch, the afternoon was spent discussing Service efficiencies and effectiveness. We planned out on a timeline of what our goals for each process were for next few years and then tried to prioritise those with the most value. Heads up! There will be a lot more good stuff coming out of Service management in the near future!
The day was rounded off with a quick drink at the pub where the conversation ranged from the ongoing squash games that some of the team are involved with to the nostalgic memories of those (not so) old-timers of the group. All agreed that the Away Day was a success and we went home proud to be part of such a fantastic team.
