New Core support and training for IT Services staff

New Core go-live is fast approaching and the new system will impact all staff at the University. It is therefore, vitally important that everyone gets up to speed on how to use the new system and understands any changes to business processes and ways of working.

To help make your switch to New Core as smooth and seamless as possible the IT Services New Core super user group will provide help and support throughout the transition period by making sure you have access to the information and knowledge you need.

Dedicated support mailbox

To help answer any questions you may have about using New Core, the group have set up a dedicated support mailbox for IT Services staff.  Questions can be emailed to itsnewcore@contacts.bham.ac.uk – the group will respond as quickly as possible to your questions and will point you towards the information you need.

Training materials

It is important that from day one you know how to use the new system. To make this process as easy as possible the New Core Training Team have produced some excellent training resources which are available to everyone.

A comprehensive array of eLearning material is available on Canvas and includes videos, interactive simulations and printable step-by-step guides. These are designed to support you across a number of role specific tasks and are aimed at both employees and line managers.

If you prefer more interactive training then the New Core Training Team are also holding a series of drop-in sessions where you can view system demos, raise any questions, and find out more about what New Core means for you.

Cutover Dates


In the run up to go-live, it is important that you are aware of the cutover deadlines for preparing local HR, Finance and Payroll activity.

Worklink

  • Student Casuals – submit request for new or extended named casual assignment – deadline 10 April, 2019
  • Non-student casuals – submit request for new or extended assignment – deadline 10 April 2019 

HR

  • Vacancies, job adverts, offers, new joiners, leavers and contractual changes – deadline 12  April, 2019

Associates

  • Submit request for new or extended Associate account – deadline 26 April, 2019

Finance and payroll

  • Approved internal purchase orders – deadline 3 May, 2019
  • Expense claims – deadline 10 May, 2019
  • External purchase orders – deadline 10 May, 2019
