Congratulations to IT Services’ Head of Business Partnering, Tara Lamplough; Business Partner, Sam Harrow and Architecture Innovation Lead, Tim Packwood, who have all been successful in their applications for bursaries from the ucisa (Universities and Colleges Information Systems Association) bursary scheme.
The aim of the bursary scheme is to give ucisa members the opportunity to travel to a conference or keynote technology event they would not usually have the opportunity to attend, then disseminate what they have learnt to the ucisa community.
Thanks to the bursary, Tara will now be heading off to the BRM Connect Conference in New Orleans in October, and Tim will attend the AWS re:Invent Conference in Las Vegas in December. Sam has just returned from the EUNIS Annual Congress, at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway.
The bursary scheme provides a valuable opportunity for IT and IT related staff to expand their knowledge and learn from industry experts as well as network with other practitioners. As part of their applications, the three had to set out in detail how they would represent ucisa at the conference they were requesting funding for, outline how the conference would benefit them personally as well as their institution and demonstrate how they would share what they have learned with the ucisa community and the higher and further education sectors.
We look forward to hearing all about what they have learned in future editions of the IT News Blog – so watch this space.
In case anyone’s wondering, the headband was a gift from the Norwegian university who hosted the conference I went to! 🙂
I was wondering if it was part of a new BP uniform…
