As part of the Estates Capital Programme, the Institute of Biomedical Research (IBR) West area of the Medical School has recently been refurbished at a cost of £9 million. It has taken over a year to complete.
The building work was delayed, which put the MDS IT team and Networks Team under considerable pressure to install the equipment on time. Deadlines were changing daily, but both teams rose to the challenge.
The installation team – led by Paddy Walsh, Desktop and Server Support Specialist – fitted all of the 60 new PCs on time and created a great-looking workspace. During the project, questions were raised over the choice of bright orange and green colour scheme – but the finished rooms look really smart.
Staff and postgraduate students will start to move in to the newly refurbished facilities from Monday 2 December.
