Green Impact: Making IT sustainable

Published: Posted on

Green Impact registration goes live on Tuesday 19 January. Green Impact brings together students and staff to green campuses, curriculum and communities.

IT Services has historically been very successful in Green Impact, winning Bronze Award in 2010, Silver in 2011, Gold in 2013, and Top Gold in 2012 and 2014. Then, key members of staff left the University and our involvement lapsed – so now it’s time to reclaim our title!

What is Green Impact?

Working in hundreds of organisations across the world, the award winning behaviour change programme empowers you to make meaningful change on sustainability – whether you’re starting from scratch, or think you have nothing left to do.

More details

2021 is going to continue to be an extraordinary time and we may not all be together on Campus for a while. The aspiration is that the Green Impact Toolkits, whilst created to be implemented in a workplace, actually provide opportunities and ideas for engaging with your teams when off Campus too.

Any department can take part in Green Impact regardless of their size. Some larger departments may want to split down and take part as a number of smaller teams. Conversely smaller departments may want to team up with other departments on their corridor or that they have links to.

Anyone can lead on Green Impact on behalf of their department – it is not aimed at any one type of post holder. The scheme has been designed to be bottom-up and voluntary and a resource for Sustainability Ambassadors. In many cases the departmental lead will simply be a member of staff, or in some cases a student, that just wants to “green” their department.
