Guest Blog – BWAMS Instagram Q&A Live

Published: Posted on

After much deliberation amongst our committee, about how best to support prospective medical applicants in the current climate; we decided on hosting Live Instagram Q&A regularly. We think this will serve as a great way to support a wide range of students looking for trustworthy and comprehensive advice. We streamed our first session on Thursday 26th March, with myself and Nawal (Fourth Year Medical Student), sharing our top tips and personal experiences of navigating through the medical application process. We discussed at length the different ways students can keep their medical knowledge up to date from recommending different books to read to completing online courses and listening to podcasts!

We shared advice about securing work experience and voluntary opportunities, whilst answering any queries or worries related to these topics. We also spoke about how best to prepare for interviews whether they be MMI or panel based; from setting up virtual mock interview sessions with friends to practising role play scenarios at home with family. With over 100 students tuning into our first livestream, we were amazed by the level of engagement and enthusiasm! We look forward to hosting more of these sessions on a weekly basis, and answering even more questions.

Please follow us on our Instagram to tune into our future livestreams! We are always open to suggestions for the type of content you would like to see.

This Sunday (5th April) at 8pm, we will be hosting our first virtual Journal Club. This is a chance to get some great experience with evidence-based medicine. We will also be providing certificates for those who participate. For more information on how you can take part and receive a certificate, please check out our latest Instagram post!
