As the deadline for applications is getting closer, why not have a look at some top tips from our Careers Network PowerPoint and two previous scholarship holders who are now UGRS Ambassadors!

Helga (LLB Law with German)

  • Research the topic. What areas interest you within it? Put that in your application.
  • Meet the academic. This makes the interview process less daunting, plus you get to know the project more and the academic’s expectations.
  • Pay attention to the structure of the application form. There are only two questions for you to fill out in the application form, but each has two mini questions within it. Try to answer the parts of the question evenly

Anjali (BA English FT)

  • Do some research on the topic of the project so that you have something specific to prove your interest e.g. key names in the field, key concepts/theories etc.
  • When talking about your previous experience don’t feel limited to just mentioning jobs or your degree. Consider other things such as the Widening Horizons Module, societies, and events you’ve attended.
  • Show off what makes you unique and give your own perspective on the topic at hand.
  • Show that you’re as passionate about the project as they are.

The deadline for applications is 12 noon on Friday 29th March.
