We are now back into the swing of the project after a nice Christmas break and we already have a few exciting things in the pipeline. Our next outing is set for the coming week, when the UK-based members of the team will be travelling to Queen Mary University of London to talk about the project there. We have also started and continued lots of discussions in the office about various things in the manuscripts which have arisen when transcribing. Some of these are how (and if) we should deal with initial double lower-case consonants and also if and how we should tag capital letters which arise in the middle or at the end of words. We have been also been sharing our thoughts on the punctuation we have found in the images, and discussing what to do with text within images and with section headings, as well as scribal perculiarities in T, Q and Ss. The issue of impact has come up again, with even more ideas of how we can make our research accessible and interesting for the general public and non-specialists, as well as thinking about potential ways in which other academics may choose to use the transcriptions we are preparing now in different ways in the future, and what this means for how we work right now. We are continuing to be pleased at the hard work of our dedicated team of volunteer transcribers, and all this is going on while we carry on beavering away preparing and checking transcriptions of E1, E2, Q, Ss and T. As always, we have a busy atmosphere in the office, although we (of course) still make time for tea and cake breaks.
