February 2026: Codicological studies complete!

Published: Posted on

A quick word of thanks to the curators and conservators at the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze and the Real Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial for their generosity and collaborative spirit. The PPROTEX project has now been able to carry out a full codicological analysis of all of the Alfonsine manuscripts and we are ready to move on to the next stage. It’s an excellent reminder of the importance of the material dimension of medieval studies and the wonderful professionals who maintain and preserve the precious objects we study. Thanks also due to Jo Story and Laura Fernández Fernández for their knowledge and generosity.
And of course thanks to The Royal Society The Leverhulme Trust and The British Academy for supporting interdisciplinary research.
