Design, data and delivery planning – a busy few months for New Core

Published: Posted on

It has been a busy few months for New Core, the University’s extensive two-year project to redesign core finance, HR and payroll processes across the University.

Following a robust 12-month procurement process, Oracle Fusion was chosen in June as the New Core software platform.  The lead partner for implementation is Version 1, with support from Symatrix (for HR) and Ether Solutions (for document management).

The New Core team has been working closely with University staff and partner suppliers to ensure best practice and sustainable ways of working for Academic and Professional staff. This included more than 80 strategy and design workshops and business questionnaires.

Recently, the programme’s IT work stream has produced detailed plans for data migration, interfacing and testing. The plans will be used to analyse existing interfaces and resource requirements in order to begin the infrastructure build. The team is also looking at requirements for migrating data currently held across the University onto new systems.

New Core would like to take this opportunity to thank all IT Staff who attended the workshops and/or provided feedback, the input provided will be invaluable in ongoing New Core system design and delivery!

There are plenty of ways that you can get involved in the development of New Core systems and provide feedback on new processes. Members of New Core staff groups will have the opportunity to view demos, trial new software and provide feedback on functionality. Regular ‘Town Hall’ meetings will also be held from January 2017, to provide the latest updates and New Core news.
