At a recent away day, the IT Leadership Team (ITLT) decided to change the emphasis of ITLT. As well as continuing as the senior management of the IT function, the ITLT will have a more structured and planned approach to strategic directions. It will have a planned programme of agenda discussions on the many different aspects of our strategic directions.
In the immediate pipeline are items on
- Vice-Chancellor’s Review (VCR) actions review
- Strategic directions for IT Services
- IT Services Compact 2017/18 (our pay and non-pay budget)
- Research support from IT Services
- Flexible resource procurement
- IT Innovation Centre review
- IT customer experience and communications
- Project and demand management
- Resource smoothing (removing the overloads)
In parallel with this, the IT Operational Management Team (ITOMT) will take on a wider role in the day-to-day operations of IT Services. Daniel Lawrence, IT Deputy Director, will now chair the group and take onboard additional aspects such as: demand management, audit action tracking and IT communications. Again there will be a rolling programme of these and other standing items (such as Health and Safety, IT Risk Register, finance, etc) in ITOMT’s agenda.
This refocus will strengthen our ability to support the University in its various strategic initiatives and focus, whilst also increasing awareness and engagement of IT staff in our strategic initiatives.
Sean Duffy, Director of IT Services
