In February, End User Services (EUS) held its first internal competition giving staff across the service an opportunity to submit improvement ideas. The response was excellent with 48 entries in total!
The panel, consisting of Ian Bowman, Sridhar Pammu, Shaun Willetts, and Tarlochan Baley, discussed each entry in detail and, after careful consideration, agreed that Rashid Ravat’s suggestion of an internal peer review was the winning idea. The panel believe that an internal peer review will help drive standardisation, best practice, information sharing, and lead to improved services in the future.
Rashid won a prize of two tickets to The Bramall Comedy Night for his winning idea!
The vast majority of submissions were things that could realise benefits, and have merit in being further investigated. We had a difficult job to first shortlist and then pick a winner, but we did manage to come to an agreement in the end. It was Rashid’s initial idea, the multiple ways it could be applied, and the way it links with the EUS strategy that made it stand out. There were also numerous ideas suggested around training and communications, and we’ll be looking to incorporate much of what has been suggested into our activities in these areas.

We’d now like to take this opportunity to congratulate Rashid, and runners-up, Kerry Jones and David MacDivitt! Your new ideas for service improvement will shape the future of EUS, and contribute to the overall success of IT Services!
