IT Services “Pretty Muddy” 5k Challenge

Published: Posted on

On Saturday 15 July, Lucy Horsnett, Katie Tyler and Laura Brown will be taking on a 5k muddy obstacle course, to raise money for Cancer Research UK!

This is a cause close to the girls’ hearts; sadly, they have lost family members, friends and work colleagues to cancer. Katie has a close friend who, in just her late thirties, was diagnosed with bowel cancer – cancer knows no boundaries, when it comes to age.

According to Cancer Research UK (CRUK)1 in 2 people will develop cancer at some point in their lives. It is vital that research continues in order to help increase cancer survival rates. This is happening right here on campus at the CRUK Clinical Trials Unit, in association with the CRUK Birmingham Centre.

Lucy, Katie and Laura hope to raise £500, to help fund research into all 20 types of cancer.  You can see how they’re doing and make a donation on Justgiving.

Obstacles that the trio will navigate include wading through a mud pit, sliding under nets and tackling a giant spider’s web. We can’t wait to see the photos..!

Lucy has completed the Challenge several times over the last few years, but this will be the first one for the others. Katie’s training regime has mainly consisted of eating cake, whilst Laura is wondering what possessed her to sign up for this – they’re going to need all the encouragement they can get!

Please dig deep and make a donation to this worthy cause today.
