Once again, members of IT Services staff have been recognised for their hard work and dedication by being nominated and shortlisted for the Birmingham University Awards for Tremendous Achievement (BUAFTAs) 2018!
Huge congratulations to Matt Warwick, IT Service Desk, for being shortlisted for the Award for Continued Excellence.
Matt continually looks to find ways to improve things for his colleagues and for the customers he supports at the IT Service Desk. One such example saw Matt create a portal for all of the systems that are needed on a daily basis for staff at the Service Desk to do their jobs. Matt is sought after within IT Services and well known to all colleagues. He is often requested to assist with projects and technical decisions.
Richard Thomas, Application Services, has also been shortlisted – for the Award for Exceptional Customer Service.
Richard is most definitely a “go to” guy, he has a cheery nature and lovely manner about him and will always take time to listen to you. He is highly motivated in helping others to achieve their goals, and continually demonstrates this. He is always keen and enthusiastic to get involved with projects, events and even promotional videos to improve the customer experience for IT Services.
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Friday 16 February – we’ll post a link to the results here on the news blog. Best of luck, Matt and Richard!
Congratulations also to Phil Dimmock, College of Medical and Dental Sciences, for being longlisted for the Student Experience Award.
Phil’s work on the laptop lockers in the Main Library has been a great success – this service is very popular with the students. As a result, more lockers have been purchased and will soon be available in the the Barnes Library.
Spencer Webb, Core Infrastructure Services, also received a nomination for the Unsung Hero Award – congratulations, Spencer!
Spencer’s commitment is exceptional. Not only is he key to the technical delivery of a very significant number of IT Services projects, he offers fantastic support – frequently being called out of hours to intercede in resolving situations before they becomes apparent to users, keeping the University productive.
You can find out who else has been nominated and shortlisted on the BUAFTAs intranet page.
