Lunchtime walk to Winterbourne a blooming success

Published: Posted on

ITS Health and Wellbeing has been running a series of Lunchtime Walks since summer 2017. The walks usually last between 20 to 30 minutes – this ensures that everyone has time to eat their lunch as well.

As a special event, we recently ran a walk to Winterbourne House and Garden. The walk took a full hour; it was interesting, educational and enjoyable – and we received some great feedback.

Free University attractions

We are lucky to work on a campus on which there are many attractions which we are able to take advantage of. These include Winterbourne House and Garden, the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, the Lapworth Museum of Geology – and the Bramall Music Building, although you do have to pay to watch performances here.

We’re going to start building some of these points of interest into our lunchtime walk schedule.

Future walks and excursions

In response to the positive feedback we received about our walk to Winterbourne, we’ll now be running these longer excursions to attractions across campus more regularly – around once per month.

If you’d like to join in but are concerned that this will make your lunch hour run over, why not ask your manager if you can make the time up by arriving a few minutes early in the morning, or working over by a few minutes? Don’t forget – a walk at lunchtime boosts productivity in the afternoon!

We’ll still run our shorter lunchtime walks most weeks – so don’t worry if you can’t spare the time for a longer lunch.

Where next?

Let us know where you’d like to take a trip to! Email ITS-Voice with your chosen University attraction, and we’ll make the most popular one our next lunchtime walk.

If you have any other ideas for activities you’d like us to run, email ITS-Voice and let us know.
