As the Office 365 pilot continues to gather momentum with many teams across IT services now utilising the services available on the platform, IT Service  Office 365 champions met as a group for the first time to discuss the opportunities and challenges that teams involved in the pilot have discovered.

The meeting began with a number of demonstrations from IT services teams about their use of Office 365 services. These included the following short talks.

End user services – Demonstrated the use of Microsoft Teams to support Team and individual actions, communication and file sharing. They discussed a number of improvements to process and efficiency that Office 365 had enabled

Service Management – Demonstrated the use of Microsoft Teams to manage communications around service incident. This included creating a single place to manage communications with teams across IT services when incidents take place.

Application operations – Demonstrated the use of the Microsoft Teams Wiki tool to share knowledge. The talk discussed the importance of documentation about the IT services we support and how teams had simplified the process of documenting and sharing information across members of team.

Group discussion

The meeting concluded with a round table discussion about the opportunities and challenges. Each team champion gave a short appraisal of the Office 365 applications that their team were using, discussing the opportunities for new ways of working that they enable.

Office 365 champions commented on the value of hearing other teams’ use of the applications and how this encourages others to explore the use of Office 365.

Feedback and sharing practice

The success of the pilot hinges of the feedback from users, this allows us to understand the benefits of the tools and shape a future wider rollout of the platform.
