Across IT, we’re working hard to address work capacity concerns. In teams where we have historical work data, we are having greater success forward planning, preventing over allocation.
We’re beginning to understand the actual level of work required by Core Systems as we transition to business as usual. This makes it more important than ever that we all record the work we’re doing each day. Hypercare is our opportunity to feed what we learn now into our future business critical work estimations and long term planning.
As we develop the strategic framework to guide the work we all do in support of the University’s 2026 vision, it’s important that we focus on and enable the automation and optimisation activities that will avoid increasing our business as usual demand. Knowing the things which take the longest time, especially the repetitive tasks we carry out, helps us identify the opportunities for improvement.
Before we agree to any new projects, it is vital that we understand their total costs and impacts. Accurate historical data helps us do that. Only when everyone fills out time actuals in Clarity, can we guarantee the accuracy of that data.
In response to the recent staff survey, ITLT have committed to providing protected time for staff to undertake development and for teams to work on process improvement. The more we know about what’s happening within our teams, the easier it will be for line managers to forward plan and enable this to happen within our baseline demand for the coming year.
Help us to help you by submitting your time within Clarity each Friday. Soon, we’ll start reporting completion rates as we work to encourage this business critical new way of working.
