2019 Research Software Engineers Conference
Some of the ARC team have been busy organising the 2019 UK Research Software Engineers Conference which was held at the University 17-19 September.
In total, 360 delegates gathered in the Great Hall for three days of talks and workshops centred on super computing and software engineering. The Conference included keynote speakers Andy Stanford-Clark, Chief Technology Officer at IBM and academic, author and broadcaster, Dr Ben Goldacre.
ARC’s ‘Ed’ Edmondson, lead the Programme Sub-Committee in the role of Programme co-Chair, creating the content for the conference. He also MC’d the event. Debbie Carter worked in the Logistics Sub-Committee as Publicity Chair and Keith Evans worked as Volunteer Chair. They were joined by Cerys Lewis and James Carpenter who both also gave up their time to volunteer.
Simon Branford gave a talk at the Conference on outreach and engagement in BEAR and the coaching and upskilling they provide for researchers at the University of Birmingham. Simon Hartley also created an educational poster for a conference competition that explained the work he does in ARC.
