Strategic Change in IT Services

Published: Posted on

Paul O’Rourke, Strategic Change, explains how he and his colleague, Mike Rush, are supporting IT Services in the delivery of the new Digital Strategy.

What’s the background?

Over the last year, you may have been involved with the creation of the new Digital Strategy; perhaps you’ve heard murmurings about ‘change’. The University is in fact in a period of continuous change, driven by a range of external and internal demands. The ever-increasing expectations of our students, academics and staff means that some things need to be delivered in different ways to how they have traditionally been done.

It has been recognised that the University’s 2026 ambitions are reliant upon digital products and the staff who maintain, configure, and support the array of all things digital.

What’s Strategic Change’s role?

We’ve been enlisted to provide support and capacity across IT Services during 2020, to enable process improvement and culture change, and shift the organisation’s relationship with digital services. There is also a clear parallel with the challenges and opportunities you have identified for IT Services in your 2019 staff survey.
