Meet the team – Charlotte Wellington

Published: Posted on

Our new regular ‘meet the team’ feature will include interviews with colleagues across the New Core Programme. Our first interviewee is Programme Leader, Charlotte Wellington.

What is your role on New Core?

New Core is the University’s biggest ever business transformation and change management programme that will see our ageing core Finance, HR, and Payroll systems being replaced with a modern Oracle Cloud solution that will change and improve the way we do business.

My role on New Core is Programme Leader. I am accountable to the University for the successful delivery of the Programme and, as part of this, there are three major elements to my role. I head up the New Core team and ensure that the right skills and resources are in place and operating effectively to ensure a successful delivery.  Secondly I am responsible for ensuring that the appropriate programme governance is in place, and finally my role involves reporting progress up to the University through the usual committee structure and also externally, as necessary .

What were you doing before joining New Core?

In Summer 2015, I was Director of Operations in the University’s College of Social Sciences, a role that I had held since the University reorganised into Colleges in 2008.  However in the summer of 2015, I was asked if I would lead New Core and this was a challenge that I couldn’t resist!

What has been your focus over the summer?

Over the past few months the team have been focusing on implementing the system and have been producing process maps and standard operating procedures so that the new processes can be more readily understood by the wider University.  In addition testing scripts are being written so that the new system can be tested, in readiness for training and delivery.

What are you most looking forward to in the new system?

The thing that I am looking forward to most is going-live with the various modules.  This will enable the University to move forward towards modernising its business practices.
